Matthew Perry: Five charged - including two doctors - over ketamine death of Friends star

One of the doctors implicated in the ketamine-related death of troubled *Friends* star Matthew Perry reportedly texted, "I wonder how much this idiot will pay."

The text was sent by Salvador Plasencia, a medical doctor known as "Dr. P," who is one of five defendants charged in connection with the actor's death.

The other defendants include Jasveen Sangha, known as the "Ketamine Queen," Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's live-in personal assistant, Erik Fleming, a friend of the TV star, and another doctor, Mark Chavez.

This follows Perry's tragic death, discovered in a swimming pool at his California home in October 2023.

A grand jury indictment filed in California accuses Plasencia of selling ketamine and related paraphernalia, such as syringes, to Perry's assistant and instructing him on how to inject the drug without the proper safety equipment.

According to the indictment, Iwamasa administered "multiple doses" of ketamine to the actor on October 28, 2023, which "resulted in [his] death and serious bodily injury."

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Perry's death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine, a sedative that can be used recreationally as well as for treating depression.

In May, police announced they were collaborating with federal authorities to trace the source of the ketamine consumed by the 54-year-old actor.

Perry had been receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety, but his last session occurred more than a week before his death, according to a post-mortem report released in December.

The report noted that the amount of ketamine in his blood was within the range typically used for general anesthesia during surgery.

The star had been candid about his struggle with substance abuse and addiction, even establishing a sober living facility for men facing similar challenges.

This is a developing story, and further details will be shared as they become available.
